Wes Anderson To Open 2018 Berlin Film Festival With Animation Movie Isle of Dogs

The Berlin Film Festival has announced that Wes Anderson's upcoming film, the Island of Cubs animation , will be his opening film. His previous film  Grand Hotel Budapest opened the Festival in 2014 and won the Grand Jury Prize, the Silver Bear.


The special taste is that the world premiere of Cubs Island at the Festival on February 15 will be the first animation to open the festival throughout its history.

Island of Cubs tells the story of the dystopian city of Megasaki, where Mayor Kobayashi expels all the dogs to an island-garbage claiming that a quarantine due to "canine influenza" is necessary. The teenager Atari, son of the mayor, goes to the island to recover his dog Spots and happens to be protected by the other dogs of the island of the authorities that try to pick it up.
